India is the 28th member of IPTOP

India is seeing an increase in the population above 65 years. A lot of physiotherapists in India are now approached by older people who wish to stay independent and realize the importance of staying pain free and fit. So at first they became Associated member of IPTOP.
The Indian Association of Physiotherapists (IAP), started the Specialty Interest Group for Older People (SIG-OP) in June 2024. Through communication with the IAP treasurer, Dr. Ruchi Varshney (PT) and the secretary of IPTOP, India became a member of IPTOP in January 2026.
The IAP relaesed (in collaboration with the SIG Older People) recently a Clinical Practice Guidelines about Geriatric Fitness.
