IPTOP has three awards, scholarships and grants available by application.
The purpose of the Education Award is to facilitate members’ knowledge exchange at professional conferences, through supporting a poster or platform presentation which covers an older person’s physiotherapy topic. The funding is for up to $500 USD to assist with the cost of conference attendance for the presentation, which could include registration fees, travel, or accommodation. For further details and to apply see https://www.iptop-physio.org/
A research grant valued at $1000 USD is available to provide seed funding for pilot projects which address clinical research with immediate relevance for issues pertaining to the function and quality of life of older adults. Applicants are encouraged to focus on areas that will affect the immediate practice of physiotherapists with clients over the age of 65. The successful applicant must be a member in good standing of their country’s older persons special interest group or an associate member of IPTOP. For more information and application, contact the IPTOP Treasurer at email@example.com.
IPTOP’s inaugural President and Chair was Olwen Finlay. In 1999, her husband, Dr. Raymond Finlay was instrumental in supporting Olwen in the founding of IPTOP through financial support from himself and professional friends and colleagues. Dr. Finlay passed away on April 8, 2018. In memory of Raymond Finlay, a bursary was founded by the Finlay family and others. The fund is intended to support a physiotherapist to attend a World Physiotherapy conference, delivering a presentation in relation to Physiotherapy with Older People; coming from an IPTOP member country that is eligible for a discounted membership fee as defined by World Physiotherapy.
The recipient will be asked to write an article for the IPTOP Newsletter and will meet with the IPTOP Executive Committee at the Conference. For more information and application, contact the IPTOP Treasurer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
