As IPTOP Executive Committee we are thrilled to announce that María Fernanda Calvo, Assistant Teaching Professor and Coordinator of the Neurorehabilitation Team in the Department of Kinesiology at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, has been selected as the winner of the IPTOP Healthy Ageing Video Contest!

Her inspiring video highlights the vital role of physiotherapists in promoting healthy ageing through physical exercise. The initiative features intergenerational workshops where students and older adults come together to learn, move, and thrive — creating a powerful space for mutual growth, understanding, and community connection.

María Fernanda shared:

“Our goal was to emphasize the key role of physiotherapists in promoting healthy ageing through physical activity. These workshops, developed in collaboration with kinesiology students, have become a valuable intergenerational learning space. I feel a strong connection to working with older adults — not only for their rehabilitation, but also for the opportunity to promote health and wellbeing.”

Her team also celebrated the International Day of Older Persons with a community walk — a beautiful example of how movement fosters inclusion and vitality at every age.

Please join us in congratulating María Fernanda Calvo and her team for their outstanding contribution to promoting healthy ageing and advancing the mission of physiotherapy worldwide!
