23rd World Congress of Gerontology and Geriatrics
August 6, 2026
From IPTOP’s President Hans Hobbelen:
It was great to be at the final day, yesterday Wednesday 8th July, of the IAGG 2026 in Amsterdam. I really enjoyed being a member of the scientific committee of IAGG 2026 and than all my colleagues in the committee for the constructive and pleasant cooperation. I specially want to thank prof. dr. Martijn Huisman and prof. dr. Hilde Verbeek for chairing the committee.
Furthermore I felt honoured to co-chair, alongside Dr Dennis Boer, the excellent keynote lecture by Prof. dr. Ivan Bautmans (VUB Brussels) on Vitality Capacity.
I also thoroughly enjoyed witnessing various presentations throughout the day that highlighted the research of our research group, Healthy Ageing, Allied Health Care and Nursing, at Hanze University of Applied Sciences, as well as our international collaborations with other researchers. For example, reference was made to the 2017 study by dr. Steven Bunt et al. on social vulnerability, the 2024 study by dr. Morag Taylor et al. on the development of a core capability framework for physiotherapists to deliver quality care when working with people living with dementia and their families/caregivers , and the 2018 study by dr Stany Perkisas et al. on the use of ultrasound in muscle assessment in sarcopenia.
It was also wonderful, on behalf of IPTOP, to meet up during the conference with Dr Mel Farlie from Australia (education coordinator at IPTOP), Michal Elboim from IPTOP MCR Israel and Dr Dennis Boer from IPTOP MCR Netherlands.
